Hatz at Bauma 2022

Hatz E1 DPF exhaust gas aftertreatment integrates occupational safety into the drive system

At Bauma, Hatz showcases the Hatz E1 DPF technology, the first serial production particulate filter system for industrial diesel engines in the power class up to 19 kilowatts. The product is a diesel particulate filter (DPF) system for the electronically controlled Hatz 1B50E and Hatz 1D90E engines.

The DPF system reduces particulate emissions far beyond the legal environmental protection requirements in Germany and Europe and meets occupational health and safety requirements. The system filters out more than 90 percent, and in many areas even more than 95 percent, of substances that are harmful to both human health and the environment.

To reduce exposure to carcinogenic diesel particulate emissions in more than shoulder-deep trenches, operators of diesel-powered equipment such as vibratory plates are required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment in these work areas. In all other fully, or partially, enclosed work areas, the diesel-powered compaction equipment without the DPF is prohibited from use.

However, the engines equipped with the DPF emit so few pollutants that these protective measures can be omitted in these deep trenches when vibratory plates are equipped accordingly. In the aforementioned (partially) enclosed working areas, their use is made possible for the first time.
